Youth Program
Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) White Mountain Clay Busters
The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) began in Arizona in 2004, with the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AG&F) serving as the state coordinating body for 10–12 programs statewide. Arizona is one of the few states where a state department coordinates SCTP activities; in most other states, individual clubs or coordinators manage the programs. Arizona’s SCTP is part of a larger national SCTP network, which operates in over 38 states under the National Shooting Sports Foundation. National Map
- Initially, AG&F provided training for coaches, 10 youth-friendly shotguns, and a small stipend per athlete, which funded about 100 practice rounds per month.
- Parents were responsible for travel, state shoot fees, and other costs, while many clubs sought supplemental funding.
- The White Mountain Clay Targets Club now receives funding from AG&F, a Midway Foundation endowment, and a Rocky Mountain Elk grant. These additional funds allow athletes to shoot up to 200 practice rounds per month and help cover costs for state and national competitions.

Certified coaches, including parents and club members, are essential to the program. Coach training includes online coursework followed by hands-on instruction from a Game & Fish-approved trainer. Coaches must be present for all practice sessions.
SCTP Western Regionals 2025
Our athletes recently traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the SCTP Western Regionals at the Clark County Shooting Complex, and they represented our program with excellence.
This year’s regional event brought together top youth shooters from across the western states, making for a highly competitive field. Our team — Bridger Garvin, Noelle Basinger, Preston Basinger and Kody Kitchens — rose to the challenge and delivered impressive performances throughout the weekend.
We are thrilled to celebrate Noelle Basinger, who earned the title of Ladies Skeet Champion. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to her hard work and consistency.
While our team finished just outside the medal standings in several categories, their scores were competitive and showed tremendous growth. We are proud of their dedication and excited for what lies ahead this season.

Youth Program
The Club coordinates with Arizona Fish and Game for the operation and support of the Youth Program.
- Summer Shooting & Hours: The club is open to the public for Trap & Skeet and Five Stand practice on Thursdays and Saturdays, weather permitting. Shooting begins at 9:00 AM, so first-time or visiting shooters should arrive by 8:30 AM. The range closes once all present shooters are finished.
- Winter Shooting & Hours: From November through March, Saturdays are reserved for the Youth Program. On these days, no member or public shooting is allowed.

During the winter, youth shooting occurs every other Saturday. Members are encouraged to schedule visits in advance to avoid conflicts.

Support Through Donations
The White Mountain Clay Targets Club is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
- In the last fiscal year, we received general contributions as well as $5,000 in road donations from local residents and ranchers.
- These donations play a vital role in supporting the Clay Busters/SCTP youth program and funding the annual budget.
- All donors will receive a letter confirming their contribution along with an IRS document verifying the club’s 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
